Went to the docs again yesterday, to discuss my weight shifting difficulties. She's advised that I have a blood test, based on the amount of exercise I'm doing, to check out my thyriod etc. Anyway, the other thing is that she pointed me to a great new diabetics diet regime called GI Point Diet. Basically it differentiates different types of carbohydrates depending on how quick they convert into glucose. If you (as I do) habitually choose hi GI foods, i.e. french baguettes, potato, waffles, biscuits at bedtime etc.. you cause your thyroid to overheat producing insulin or something and never feel fully satisfied.
Needless to say, I've bought the book and am busy adjusting my life. It's all good stuff. Highly recommend it, especially 'cos it says eat nuts instead of crisps; pita instead of bread, and sweet potato instead of potato. It's a swap thing, rather than a diet. Great.
i also have now purchased the book...this might give us the edge Nige!
just been down to waterstones meself, great book.
oh, steve, nice to see you cut down on the biscuits yesterday
Great, we can start putting GIPS after our entries. Guess we're all on the kick start 20 per week for a couple of weeks yes?
once my book comes, sure Nige...sure we can
nige, good plan, i'll go along with that. start when steve get his book, yeah?
